Maleeka: thank you. Though I’ll be busy working on the Inn over the next couple of months, I will be sure to take the time and write in this journal.

2nd day for Havani, 637 A.P.
I know you say I don’t write enough in this journal, and I always say that I can never find the time to sit down and write. Today, however, things are different. Something wonderful happened that must be written down: we are expecting our first child.
As I sit here reading those powerful words – Expecting Our First Child – it dawns on me that I am feeling both joy and fear. My heart warms at the thought of a small baby in my arms, yet at the same time fear settles in with all sorts of questions.
Am I ready to be a father? I have never cared for a child before, so how could I be ready? Then again, can anybody truly be ready to be a father? Or is it something you learn as time goes on, adapting to your child’s needs as they change from day to day, month to month and year to year. These are tough questions indeed, and I’ll admit my answers, or lack thereof, scare me.
In the end though, regardless of how prepared I am, I am quite certain I will always love our child as much as I love you, even if I don’t know what I’m doing.
