This entry is part 7 of 7 in the series War of the Soulhers: Vikas' Journal

I do not know what day it is…  I do not remember the last time I saw Maleeka…  She is with the farmers now… Plotting against me… I know it…

Some farmers still come to the Inn…  They must think I am stupid for not knowing their plans…  I pretend I don’t know…  I listen to what they say and I prepare for my attack…

I went down to the cave the other day, to the portal…  It brought me to a room where great fire creatures rested…  I understand now…  I must make them pay for their plotting… graska ve ik mostiem flaro… use the power of fire… that’s what the man had said…

I’ve used one of the creatures to burn down a farm.  I’ve overheard someone say Maleeka was there, though I do not know if she survived or not.

She survived, of that I am certain.  From what I hear, she’s been hiding out in the head farmer’s house.  I’ve had a creature attack it, though it only found the head farmer and his son, meaning Maleeka had already fled somewhere else.  I swear I will find her, and make her regret turning against me!  In the meantime, I will make these farmers pay for protecting her.

The head farmer was saved by some weird trio: a dwarf, a halfling and an old man.  They came to the Inn to get the man a room, and bought some rounds for the other farmers in the tavern.  I made sure to serve the tainted drinks, as instructed by the man with the tattoo.  In a few hours I will have my revenge…

I have been hiding in the cave for several hours.  The farmers have all begun rotting, their flesh slowly pealing away, revealing the puss-filled insides of their dieing bodies.

The ones who turned first were lucky, as they are now mindless zombies attacking anything that moves.  The others, the ones who havn’t changed yet or did not drink the tainted drinks, have had to witnessed their fellow friends rot before their eyes and then be attacked and eaten by them.

I too am changing, as I also drank the tainted drinks.  I feel my body weaken and rot inside, as my bones snap with every move I make.  Its with a mixed blessing that I’ve also been freed from the curse cast on me by the tattooed man when I refused to sell the Inn.  This curse caused me to turn my back on my love, and only now do I see how I was so wrong.

The flesh on my hands is beginning to change colour and break.  Thought he pain is unbearable, I do not know what is worse: rotting alive or knowing that I will soon be a mindless servant of whatever evil has descended upon this valley.

I am sorry Maleeka, wherever you may be, and I pray you are safe with our child.  Please, forgive me what I’ve done…
